Trinidad Has a Horrible Environmental Record and a History of Coverups
"There have been in excess of 498 oil spills since 2018 an increase of 121 since 2015 and no one has ever been charged or prosecuted. Every drop of hydrocarbon has an ever-lasting impact on our marine ecosystem.”
Between June 2020 and November 2021 alone, Skytruth estimated the cumulative amount of oil that has leaked from offshore infrastructure and into the Gulf of Paria and eastern coast of Trinidad to be between 55,740 and 260,120 gallons.
