Angel Rampersad Died for Israel — Not for You

They want you to call her a hero and wave the flag. Here is what Angel Rampersad actually died for — and who profits from the lie.

Don't You Dare Call Her a Hero

They want you to cry. They want you to wave the flag and say she died "serving her country." Let me tell you exactly what Angel Rampersad died for. Not your freedom. Not your safety. Not the working people of Queens she came from.

She died for Lockheed Martin. She died for Netanyahu. She died so some defense contractor's stock could tick up half a point while another Palestinian family gets buried under rubble.

Angel Rampersad

Twenty-eight years old. Trinidadian blood. From Ozone Park—a neighborhood that knows what it means to be colonized, to be exploited, to have your labor extracted and your body discarded. And what did she do with that legacy? She strapped on the uniform of the empire. She went to Jordan—not to defend any American's right to anything, but to prop up the same apartheid machine that bombs children in Gaza, that starves Yemen, that turns the entire Middle East into a graveyard for American-made weapons.

"My daughter was a good soldier. She fought for this country and died for this country. And I am a mother that is highly proud of her."

— Mother of Angel Rampersad, in a video shared by RT. View on X

They tell you she was "killed by an Iranian missile." They won't tell you why Iran is firing missiles in the first place. They won't tell you that Muwaffaq Salti Air Base is just another node in the American war machine that has spent decades butchering Muslim children from Baghdad to Beirut. They won't tell you that every "advisor," every "logistics specialist," every "non-combatant" in that uniform is part of the apparatus that keeps the bombs dropping on hospitals and schools.

You think she didn't know? You think a twenty-eight-year-old soldier in 2026 didn't understand that she was there to protect Israeli expansion, not American democracy? She made a choice. She chose paychecks over principles. She chose the petty privileges of American citizenship over solidarity with the colonized people who look just like her ancestors.

And now the politicians want to memorialize her. The same politicians who won't fund your schools, who let your trains break down, who poison your water—they want you to stand at attention for Angel Rampersad. They want the working class of Queens to send their sons and daughters to die next, all while calling it "patriotism."

And here is what the establishment media will bury: go and read the replies under every post about her death on X. Scroll them all. There was not one kind comment. Not one. The public—ordinary people, from Trinidad to Queens to the rest of the world—looked at that flag-draped coffin and saw exactly what it was. They are not mourning. They see the con. The only people calling her a hero are the politicians and the pundits who need the next generation to keep enlisting.

This is the oldest trick in the imperial playbook: take the poorest, the most desperate, the ones looking for a way out of economic ruin—and turn them into weapons against other poor people overseas.

This is the scam. Black and brown bodies sent to kill brown and Black bodies, while the white billionaires who run Raytheon and Northrop Grumman laugh all the way to the bank.

She wasn't defending you. She wasn't defending Ozone Park. She was defending the right of a settler-colonial state to keep its boot on the neck of Palestine. She was defending oil pipelines and drone bases and the petrodollar. She was a cog in a war machine that has murdered more children than any "terrorist" organization they tell you to fear.

So don't light a candle. Don't say her name with reverence. Reserve your grief for the Yemeni children who never got to be twenty-eight. Reserve your tears for the Palestinian families erased by the bombs she helped facilitate. She wasn't a victim of Iranian aggression—she was collateral damage in the empire's endless hunger for domination.

They want you to be sad today. I want you to be angry. I want you to look at that flag-draped coffin and see what it really is: a recruitment tool. A marketing campaign. A lie designed to make the next Angel Rampersad think dying for Israeli apartheid is somehow honorable.

It's not. It never was. And until we stop letting them turn our neighborhoods into breeding grounds for war criminals, the bodies will just keep piling up—here and over there.
