ICJ Ugandan Judge Julia Sebutinde who faced criticism for opposing previous ICJ decisions, has once again opposed the court’s rulings this time. She is now again facing the wrath of the world for her vote
Today, during the ICJ ruling against the Israeli offensive in Rafah, Uganda's Judge Julia Sebutinde and Israeli ad hoc judge Barak were the only two who voted against the demand for Israel to halt its offensive in the city, which were deemed genocidal.
In a world that desperately needs more compassion and understanding, Judge Julia Sebutinde's recent decision to refuse to halt the assault on Rafah stands as a stark reminder of the challenges we face. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered Israel to immediately cease its military operations in the Rafah Governorate, yet Judge Sebutinde's dissent from this decision has sparked outrage and disappointment.

The ICJ's ruling was a glimmer of hope for those seeking to end the violence and protect the lives of innocent civilians. However, Judge Sebutinde's decision to dissent from this ruling is deeply troubling and raises serious questions about her understanding of the situation and her commitment to the principles of justice and human rights.
States now on notice to suspend arms transfers, cut diplomatic relations, agitate for a ceasefire at the Security Council.
The Uganda government had previously disowned the judge who voted in favor of Israel at UN court
“Justice Sebutinde ruling at the ICJ (the International Court of Justice) does not represent the Government of Uganda’s position on the situation in Palestine,” Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Adonia Ayebare, wrote on X.
she voted against reason & morality, justice & freedom, love & compassion. She voted against the very soul of humanity.
Judge Julia Sebutinde's refusal to halt the assault on Rafah is a deeply troubling development that must be met with strong condemnation. She has demonstrated that she is nothing else, but a paid-up agent of the criminal Zionist Entity of Israel. The international community must come together to demand an end to the violence and ensure that the rights and dignity of all people are respected and protected.
Judge Julia Sebutinde is such an embarrassment to her country & a disgrace to humanity.
